The draft CSA Z252 proposes Canadian best practices for the process of inspecting and approving modular construction projects for partially or fully enclosed modules built in an off-site factory and transported and installed at the final location. These guidelines are intended for construction and inspection of permanent modular buildings of any size and occupancy. They include information on:
- plans preparation and review;
- permit application package inclusions;
- site/development permit inclusions;
- codes and standards applicable to modular construction;
- factory certification program procedures;
- third-party inspection agencies’ roles and responsibilities;
- transportation and storage practices; and
- recommended on-site installation and inspection procedures.
Until February 18, you can participate in the review of the draft online. For additional information, contact Sarah Chung at the CSA.
